Ted Todd Floors: Where It Started

Ted Todds heritage dates back more than 30 years when they began reclaiming and restoring wood floors from a small base in Warrington. Then a few years later in an industry first they began experimenting with producing wide plank solid wood floors using new European oak.

Quality and Craftsmanship

Using their experience and knowledge from reclaiming 18th and 19th century wood floors they began making new wood floors mostly solid, wide and long oak floorboards that quickly became popular with customers.
As a company they still incorporate many of the ideas and materials they used in their first floors in the floors they produce today and are proud of the fact that so many of their floors are FSC® certified. In 1997 they became one of the first companies in Europe to become FSC® certified, and their certification has been renewed successfully every 5 years since. As the business grew they were determined to create stunning looking floors without compromising on sustainability.

Sustainability

Since they began producing wood floors in 1993, Ted Todd as a company have been driven by a commitment to the environment. 

They go above and beyond the usual environmental and sustainability standards, and have many third party accreditations allowing them to create safety and santuary in homes whilst protecting the environment and improving health and well being from the ground up. 

All of their timber (whether floors or wall cladding) follows the UK Timber Regulations as standard, which verifies that all of our timber is legally sourced.

Many of their floors are also accredited by FSC™ or PEFC, both of which are global organisations that independently confirm that all of their floors that are made from new timber are sourced from well managed forests.

Many of their Woodworks floors are reclaimed, which is a great way to reuse and recycle old wood to save it from going to waste.

Old wood can’t be certified in the same way that new timber can be, but it is very environmentally friendly as it extends the lifecycle of wood.

All of their floors are SVOC free and have low VOC emissions, which make them a great choice to have in your home.
